Our Story
Fashion has always been second nature to me. I’ve had an instinct for styling, knowing how to put together an ensemble effortlessly. Friends would often ask me for fashion advice, and I enjoyed curating looks for them. This natural inclination towards creativity led me to pursue a degree in fashion design, where I spent three transformative years shaping my passion into a professional skillset.
After graduation, I had the opportunity to work with a renowned fashion designer in Mumbai. It was a dream come true. But life had more beautiful plans—I married a charming Army officer, and with him, I got the chance to travel across India.
These travels opened my eyes to the rich and diverse world of India’s traditional arts and crafts. I was mesmerized by the intricate beauty of Chikankari, Aari Zardozi, Bandhani, Kutchi, Ikkat, Kashidakari, and so many other heritage crafts. I wasn’t just admiring them—I found myself drawn to the artisans behind these crafts, their dedication, and their struggles.
I began visiting villages, working with artisans, helping them refine their designs to align with modern trends while preserving the authenticity of their craft. Over time, it became clear that this was my true calling—not just appreciating these art forms but actively contributing to their revival and growth.
That’s how Pakhi was born—a platform to bring these handcrafted treasures to you while empowering the artisans who pour their heart and soul into creating them. Since Lucknow is our native place, it felt natural to start with Aari Zardozi in 2019. The response at exhibitions and shows was overwhelming. Just as we were gaining momentum, the pandemic hit in 2020, and like many, we had to pause.
But I never gave up on my dream. If anything, it gave me the time to go deeper. This time, I set my heart on Chikankari, a craft synonymous with the elegance and grace of Lucknow. I spent time learning from the best artisans in the field, understanding every intricate detail, and refining the craft to bring you something truly special.
Now, we are proud to present an exquisite collection of authentic, hand-embroidered Chikankari, straight from the skilled artisans of Lucknow. But this is just the beginning. Our mission goes beyond a single craft—we aim to connect you with the finest traditional arts from every corner of India, supporting the artisans who keep these legacies alive.
At Pakhi, we stand by the philosophy of “India for India”, celebrating and preserving our rich heritage through fashion. Thank you for being a part of this journey. Together, let’s keep the legacy of Indian craftsmanship thriving.
